Privacy policy

This policy explains what Kibina collects, why, and the choices you have. It is a starting template and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer and aligned with Rwanda’s Law No. 058/2021 on the protection of personal data and privacy before you rely on it in production.

What we collect

Account details you provide, such as your name, email and phone number. Records your group creates, such as contributions, loans, fines, expenses and meeting attendance. Basic technical logs needed to keep the service secure.

How we use it

To run your savings group, keep its financial records accurate, show you the right information for your role, and protect the account against misuse. We do not sell your data.

Who can see your data

Access follows your role in a group. Members see their own records and a group summary. Committee roles see what they need to run the group. Every sensitive action is written to an audit log.

Keeping data

Financial records are kept for as long as the group needs them and as the law requires. You can ask for a copy of your data or ask us to correct it.

Your rights

You can access and download all the data we hold about you at any time from Settings, using the “Download my data” option, and you can request deletion of your account there too. Where you have financial history in a group, your personal details are removed while the group’s records are kept under a non-identifying label, so the other members’ accounts stay accurate. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or Rwanda’s Law No. 058/2021, including the rights to access, correct, port, and erase your data, and to object to processing.
